Translated by Peter van Montfoort The first set of figures (e.g. 1100) is the number of the registration
licence in Belgium. In case of the OO-CCP is C-267 the number of the
registration in Belgian Congo (this plane had two registration licences, this
was not unusual with gliders in the Belgian Congo). 1100

Grunau Baby III (?)
built in 1945 OO-ZFH 30.06.1980
registered on behalf of F. Henrard, officially the domicile is Temploux
however most likely it is stored on a trailer next to his house In the early days it was not necessary to register
gliders to be allowed flying in Belgian airspace. Only to fly abroad a
registration license was required. Later the insurance compagnies demanded a
registration license before they undertook insurance. Because in the fifties it
was not compulsory to have a license, only few gliders were registated then. To
some gliders registration was issued without supplying the registration
certificate. For that reason many gliders were never officially entered in the
records, or have flown for many years without a registration license, only to be
recorded many years later. The three Belgian built Grunau Babies OO-ZPR, OO-ZPY
en OO-ZUI are an example of gliders which were thus registered afterward. Below a summary of some Grunau Babies the existence of
which is proved by various documents and to which registration issued without an
registration certificate. OO-ZBA Grunau

later on R. Cuypers sold his share to J. Haepers. Registration OO-ZTO reserved
for R. Cuypers on 21.1.1988 and for J. Haepers on 20.3.1990. A meticulous
inspection of the glider revealed the German registration number D-4016 but not
the last letter of the Belgian registration which was painted on the fuselage OO-ZPE Grunau
