The picture of the Grunau Baby is exposed at de TAM Museum, at Rio
Claro city, São Paulo. In February 17th, 1934, Hanna Reitsch in
this
tiny Grunau Baby (D-Christian) established the female altitude
world record of 2200 meters, flying over the Campo dos Afonsos, in
the state of Rio the Janeiro.

The GBII at the Reynolds-Alberta Museum in Wetaskiwin, Alberta,
Canada S/N 1533, Registration CF-BZL was one of four Babies brought to
Canada after World War II and sent for evaluation to the National
Research Council in Ottawa. It was sold to a gentleman by the name
of Gratineau in about 1947. It made 832 flights between 1947 and
1951 and was the first sail plane to achieve the Silver C in Canada.
The aircraft was actively flown until about 1953 and then put into
storage. It is currently awaiting restoration. More
information about this glider can be found in the April, 1989 issue of Free
Flight magazine.

Baby IIb is gebouwd in 1947, in licentie bij
Fokker, onder constructienummer 6035. Het vloog o.a. bij de Gooise
Zweefvliegclub en de Zweefvliegclub Uden. In 1953 ging het naar de Gooische
Zweefvliegclub. In 1967 ging deit vliegtuigje naar de Texelse Zweefclub. Die
heeft er tot 1973 mee gevlogen. De huur voor dit vliegtuig bedroeg in 1972 ƒ450, - per jaar, taxatiewaarde ƒ1000, -. Eind 1972
werd ook dit te koop aangeboden door de KNVvL. Voor dit toestel kon toen een
lening worden verstrekt gelijk aan de aankoopsom. Rente 4% per jaar over het
gehele bedrag. De aflossing diende te geschieden in maandelijkse termijnen
(inclusief rente) van ƒ200, -
Per
1 januari was de taxatie waarde teruggelopen tot ƒ1200, -
De
taxatiewaardes werden vastgesteld door de heer P. Vleesch du Bois en vormden de
basis voor de premieberekening van zowel de collectieve brandpolis als wel de
Luchtvaart Onderlinge.
In
november 1973 werd het gekocht door de Aero Club Nistelrode. Op 14.02.78 ging
het naar C.A.S. van Leeuwen-Runge te Nistelrode en op 23.02.79 werd F.A.P.M.
Otten te Deurne eigenaar.

van Loosbroek heeft
het vliegtuig overgedragen aan
het
Aviodrome .
Deze heeft heb uitgeleend aan Jan Turk en is gestationeerd in de Wieringermeer. Hij
en een partner moeten hem in vliegklare staat houden.
Doordat het vliegtuigje in een slechte staat is heeft hij besloten dat het
vliegtuig niet meer luchtwaardig is en is de Baby naar Texel gegaan waar het in
het museum tentoongesteld zal worden.
